The lumber industry isn't uniform and neither are lumber people. It can be confusing trying to decide between Mill Select STK and TK - Select Tight Knot only to realize they are essentially the same thing. The lumber industry doesn't do this on purpose and their have been efforts to unify the grades. Don't be surprised when a mill in Indiana USA uses different terms then one in British Columbia, Canada. This is why we need to know exactly what wood you want and what wood you have been quoted. 4,000 sqft of Near Clear can be double the price of Mill Select STK or TK - Select Tight Knot. People often think they are getting a great deal only to be delivered a lower grade wood.
Best grade available usually 30% more than Near Clear.
The biggests price jump in wood is going from Mill Select to Near Clear as Near Clear is about twice as much.
Similar to tight knot below will have smaller and tighter knots than Customer Select.

Has a lot of personality and is used on siding , interior paneling and virtually any application. The knots and other natural features define the visual character of this grade. In this grade the knots are sound and tight.

Characteristics may include – seasoning checks; grain: medium; knots: sound, not firm fixed, unsound knots are limited to 1/2 the size of other knots; pitch streaks, shake, skip, stain, torn grain and wane.
